Helen in Copenhagen!

As the team has been reunited for Camp Condor, I have settled into my new home in Copenhagen. I am happy here, marveling at the opportunity Bates has given me to broaden my worldview and sense of self but there is a tinge of homesickness for my Bates Nordic family in the back of my mind. I am so thankful for the world of email and blogs so I can check in with our team.

I also had the joy of a little piece of Bates with a visit from Sal Gal last week and below are some of our adventures.
Our delicious burgers the first night
On Nyhavn harbor, getting ready to take a canal tour
Red Lightning (my bike) and I being Sally’s sherpa to the train station

There have also been some great training opportunities here, with sightseeing tagged along. Last night I experienced Danish running club culture by participating in a 7.5k race which circled around the neighborhood of Christianshavn and by the opera house along the harbor. I also had the opportunity to meet a few people on the København SkiKlub. Though I didn’t capture any pictures of the race, below is a picture of my scenic bike ride to the next town, Hillerød.
Red Lightning and my trip to Hillerød. Sometimes there are storks in the field behind me! and horses, cows and sheep.

Wishing everyone a wonderful beginning to the school year!
